A 12VDC to 220VAC Inverter is necessary at many
times when we need to run something out of a car wall wart or for use as a
simple back up system in case of power failure. This is an inverter with the
best size to power ratio and best efficiency as it uses MOSFET’s for drivers.
It has a maximum output capability of 100Watts at 250V and 50Hz.
A simple Inverter would use power transistors as
drivers but their efficency is not as good as using MOSFETs. The CD4047 is
wired as astable multivibrator at 50Hz. It is adjustable through the preset.
The output is roughly a chopped square wave and is enough for most devices
except a very few SMPS based devices like chargers.Analog devices work with no problems
at all.
Notes.
- B1 can be a 12V/ 6Ah lead acid battery.
- Q1 and Q2 must be fitted to a proper heat sink.
- T1 can be a 9-0-9 V primary, 230V secondary, 150VA transformer .
- Do not expect much from this circuit. The is very simple one suitable for low grade applications.
